Deck Cleaning
Your deck should be the best seat in the house — not the one no one wants to use.
Decks take more abuse than almost any surface on your property. Rain, sun, pollen, falling leaves, spilled drinks, pet traffic, barbecue grease — it all builds up into a slick, grimy layer that dulls the wood and makes the whole outdoor space feel neglected. A professional pressure wash lifts years of buildup, kills off algae and mildew, and brings your deck back to a surface you actually want to spend time on.
What We Clean
- Cedar decks — a Pacific Northwest favorite that cleans up beautifully with the right technique
- Pressure-treated wood decks — safely cleaned without damaging the grain
- Composite decks (Trex, TimberTech, etc.) — gentle pressure and deck-safe cleaners to remove mildew, algae, and grime without scarring the surface
- Railings, balusters, and stairs — we clean the full deck system, not just the floor boards
- Under-deck areas — where accessible, so moisture and mildew don’t creep back up
How We Do It
Low pressure, right technique. Decks are where bad pressure washing does the most visible damage — etched boards, fuzzy grain, streaks that never go away. We use lower pressure combined with proper cleaners to lift grime without chewing up the wood.
Composite-safe methods. Composite decks have specific cleaning requirements — the wrong approach can void warranties or leave permanent marks. We use techniques approved for composite surfaces.
Natural cleaners, safe for your yard. Decks usually sit right next to flower beds, lawns, and often pet areas. Our cleaning solutions are plant-safe, pet-safe, and people-safe. Nothing harsh running off into your landscaping.
Prepped for staining or sealing. If you’re planning to restain or reseal your deck, a pressure wash is the essential first step. We leave the wood clean and evenly stripped of surface grime so a fresh finish can bond properly.
What to Expect
A typical residential deck takes two to four hours depending on size, height, railing complexity, and how much buildup there is. We arrive with water, equipment, and cleaners — no prep needed on your end beyond clearing off furniture and grills. Decks usually need a full day to dry before you put furniture back or walk on them barefoot.
A note on older decks: Pressure washing will clean your deck thoroughly, but it won’t reverse years of sun bleaching or gray weathering. If your deck has aged to a silvery gray and you want the original warm wood tone back, that takes staining after the wash. We’ll leave the surface clean and ready if that’s your next step.
A note on loose or damaged boards: Pressure washing can expose — but won’t cause — existing damage. If your deck has soft spots, loose nails, or rotted boards, those issues will be more visible after cleaning. We’ll let you know if we spot anything concerning while we work.
